Our Story
Callow Furniture is based in Mt Eden, Auckland, and is owned and operated by Paddy Cahill. With a strong passion for woodworking and a commitment to excellence, he creates unique pieces of furniture for his clients throughout the North Island.
Originally from Ireland, he grew up on a flood plain named The Callows in the heart of rural County Offaly. He moved to New Zealand in 2016, living with his wife and daughter. He started Callow Furniture to provide bespoke furniture and woodwork services, creating personalised pieces that bring his clients' visions to life.
Since arriving in New Zealand, he has worked as a Production Manager in the maritime construction industry. He has helped construct many marinas throughout the country whilst creating custom-made furniture for clients from his workshop in his free time. With a background in construction, carpentry, manufacturing, and even improving animal enclosures at a zoo whilst volunteering in Thailand, he has obtained a wealth of knowledge and a skillset to create beautiful pieces at his client's request. With a dedication to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, Paddy can turn raw materials into functional works of art.

Meet the Artisan
"I was 15 when I built my first piece of furniture. It was a large wooden treasure chest for my sister. I remember her reaction on Christmas day. Since then, I've been hooked on the satisfaction I get from creating a piece from start to finish and seeing the joy on people's faces when they see what I've made for them. I love every part of the process, taking an idea and coming up with a design, hand selecting the timber, the joinery - I love it all. |
